In 2021, RMIT is offering a range of undergraduate and graduate certificates with commonwealth government support.

In as little as six months, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our talented and helpful academic staff to learn practical skills, delve into theory work, and gain an understanding of your chosen career path.

Your course may be offered online, face-to-face on campus, or a mixture of both depending on the subject. Visit your course page for details about subject delivery.

Commonwealth funding for this initiative is only available for 2021. Any remaining subjects that are commenced in 2022 may not be Commonwealth supported.

Undergraduate certificates are only offered on a full-time study basis and cannot be undertaken part-time.

Many graduate certificates offer part-time study for flexible delivery; however, you may not be eligible for Commonwealth support beyond 2021.

Upon successful completion of an undergraduate certificates you will meet the entry requirements for the related bachelor's degree.

Many of our graduate certificates offer guaranteed entry into the relevant  master's degree.

A CSP is a place in a course where the Australian Government provides funding to RMIT for part of your course. This means you'll only need to contribute part of the cost of your course – this is referred to as the 'student contribution'. In addition, if you meet the eligibility criteria and would prefer to defer your student contribution, you can apply for a HECS-HELP loan to pay the student contribution amount.

The Australian Government is providing short course CSPs to retrain and up-skill across study areas that have been recognised as a national priority. You can find government-supported certificates offered at RMIT on this page, or you can select your study area and explore all our graduate certificates.

Yes, RMIT has a limited number of placements that are covered by the government for each course. Full-fee places may also be available in addition to the CSPs.

Student contribution for short course Commonwealth Support Places vary by field of education. Please refer to the fees section of the course page for more information.

You can find out about Commonwealth Supported Places eligibility at Applying to RMIT. You’ll also need to consider the entry requirements of the graduate certificate under Admissions on the relevant course page.

You may choose to defer your offer, however any subjects commenced in 2022 may not be Commonwealth Supported Places.

An undergraduate certificate is a short, entry-level higher education award. It is made up of four subjects that are six months (or one semester) in duration on a full-time basis.

Undergraduate certificates select based on entry requirements, which often refer to individual subject scores, rather than ATAR. If you meet the entry requirements, you may be offered a place in the undergraduate certificate. Upon successful completion of your course, you will meet the entry requirements for the relevant degree.

An undergraduate certificate is an introduction to the related bachelor degree and is designed to prepare you for further study at a bachelor level.

A diploma, advanced diploma or associate degree in the same field is a standalone qualification that may enable you to seek entry-level work in your desired field.
