Lower School Election Results Announced

November 2020

Last week the country—and the Lower School—voted. During her Monday Message on November 9, Lower School Director Chris Appleby announced the winner of the school election.

Building anticipation, she reminded students that voting is an opportunity to make their voices count in choosing a leader, and she thanked them for carefully considering the speeches of both candidates—Babymouse from the Babymouse Series and Cow from Click, Clack, Moo—before casting their ballots.

Some students voted in person, others virtually, and there were even a few absentee ballots. Ms. Appleby shared that the ballots were counted very carefully.

Babymouse and Cow were on hand to say a few words to the voters. In conceding, Babymouse shared well wishes and also some disappointment, “Cow did a great job and I’m really excited for him to be a good president. I think I’m going to go eat some cupcakes and read a book.”

Cow’s brief acceptance speech set the stage for a successful term: “Hello everybody! I just want to say I’m extremely thrilled that I’m your new president! And, I want to thank you all for voting for me. I also want to congratulate Babymouse for fighting hard during this election and being such an amazing other candidate. I want to promise you that during my term, I will uphold my promises to you and fight to fix your issues. Now, I’m ready to get to work!”

Ms. Appleby also announced that Joe Biden became the President-elect and noted that Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is making history as the first woman and the first person to identify as Black and South Asian-American in the role of vice president.
