AtlasShorts offers short-form films in many genres and includes award-winning material, student films, and educational content. It has titles from the Australian Film, Television & Radio School (AFTRS), British Film Institute, American Film Institute, USC Cinematic Arts, National Film Board of Canada, University of Melbourne VCA, and other sources.

Beamafilm is an independent movie streaming site specialising in Australian documentaries and indie features from around the world. It is continually updated by filmmakers and distributors and video-on-demand specialists.

EduTV contains Australian and international content including current affairs programs, documentaries, drama series, and feature films. Programs are archived with new content added weekly.

TVNews allows you to browse, search, and retrieve news and related current affairs stories broadcast by free-to-air networks. With daily content updates and an email alert service to help track the stories that matter to you.

Kanopy streams feature films as well as videos in the arts, business, education, global studies and languages, health, media, sciences, social science and technical training.

The Third Party Video and Audio collection includes television and radio broadcasts recorded under Part VA [Screenrights Licence] of the Copyright Act, and other video and audio files in the public domain used with permission, or used under licence (such as Creative Commons).

adforum.com provides access to a creative library of over 150,000 advertisements. Search for the latest ad campaigns or browse by film production, sound/music, animation/VFX, and more. Media include movie trailers, interactive television, logotypes, posters, and games.

Bates' Visual guide to physical examination clinical skills videos featuring head-to-toe and systems-based physical examination techniques. 

OnArchitecture features video interviews, and profiles of architects, buildings, and installations, enriched with a selection of complementary material.

Art and Architecture in Video covers documentaries and interviews illustrating the theory and practice of a variety of art forms and provides the context necessary for critical analysis.

Asian Film Online offers feature films, documentaries, and shorts by independent Asian filmmakers, curated by film scholars and critics.

Counseling & Psychotherapy a collection of more than 120 hours and 430 videos (SAGE video)

Disability Busters is a subscription-based website housing a diverse library of content relating to the areas of disability, mental health, accessibility, and equity. The database brings stories about what it's like living with disability. Presented and produced with disabled people it's a place to build community and identity.

Education in Video covers hundreds of special topics and themes and represents many different teaching and learning conditions.

Environmental Studies in Video covers all realms of environmental studies; particularly, ethics, sustainability, policy, economics, law, sociology, planning, and environmental science.

Ethnographic Video Online is a comprehensive online resource for the study of human culture, behavior and society around the world.

Fashion Studies Online features programs on the contemporary fashion industry and the history of fashion, clothing, and costume worldwide.

GDC Vault contains a collection of videos and slides from design and technical talks presented at the Game Developers Conference over the last 20 years.

Streaming music collections

Music Online searches across the entire suite of Alexander Street Press music databases. These collections cover streaming audio and video recordings of classical, popular and world music, as well as select full text from key print resources on world and African-American music, and digitised music scores.

You can also search the individual collections within Music Online. Search tactics vary from database to database:

• African American Music Reference provides comprehensive coverage of black American musical expression from colonial times to the present, including blues, jazz, spirituals, civil rights songs, slave songs, minstrelsy, rhythm and blues, gospel, and other forms. It contains a wide range of material types, including audio, lyrics, and sheet music. Select “audio” to listen to recordings over a wide variety of genres including blues, country, folk, and jazz.
• Garland Encyclopedia of World Music is the first comprehensive online resource devoted to music research of all the world’s peoples. More than 9,000 pages of material and 300 audio recordings found in 9 albums, combined with entries by more than 700 expert contributors from all over the world, make this the most complete body of work focused on world music.
• Smithsonian Global Sound for Libraries produced in partnership with Smithsonian Folkways Recordings is a virtual encyclopedia of the world's musical and aural traditions. The collection provides educators, students, and interested listeners with an unprecedented variety of online resources that support the creation, continuity, and preservation of diverse musical forms.

The Library has a collection of music CDs in a variety of genres. Use LibrarySearch to find titles from this collection.

Streaming sound collections

AdForum provides access to over 150,000 advertisements, including more than 2,700 radio advertisements. Select the Radio drop down button in the Media section of the Advanced Search.

Smithsonian Global Sound for Libraries is part of the Music Online. It provides access to more than 40 non-music sound recordings.To find non-music sound recordings go to Advanced Search, select Content Type, and select Non-music sound recording.

Soundgator has free sound effects available for use for educational purposes (as explained in the Copyright and Conditions of use notices).

Non-music CDs

Look in LibrarySearch for:

• talking books, both fiction and nonfiction
• English language courses

Search for the title or a subject in LibrarySearch. Then look for the 'Resource Type' filter in the 'Refine my results' menu and select 'Audio Visual'.

Audiovisual titles are available for 14 day loan or you can watch them in the Library.

If the title is placed on the Course Reserve, you can watch it in the Library only. These titles can be booked for lecturers to use in class. Talk to the Service Desk staff about the bookings.

The Library video collection is available for group viewing and class presentations. Study rooms with large monitors are available for booking.
